Branch Of Wisdom

Today I thank the Lord for teenagers, and more specifically, teenage sons!  They are amazing, marvelous people, and I have enjoyed the presence of four very different ones in my home.

Danny, the 17-year-old

Since both photos are of Danny, I particularly thank the Lord for this amazing teenager.  Boy, this little guy was interesting--we half-jokingly said that if Danny made it alive to his fifth birthday, we would have a Miracle Birthday Party.  He did, so we did!  He was Superboy--able to slide down a staircase in ten seconds flat, scale a chain-link fence barefoot before we could blink, climb on top of the washer or dryer unassisted, and fearlessly climb out onto the roof to make a bed for himself for the evening.  Um--these were all before the age of four...

To see the young man of God that Danny has become is truly a miracle.  He is tender-hearted--all little children love him--and yet practical, and can be heard singing (beautifully) at any given moment.

Each of our sons has his own personality and character, and I still marvel that the Lord used Fernando and me to create four completely separate and unique individuals to the praise of His glory.

Danny, 85% done with his college English essay

Our four sons are goofy and serious, loud and introspective.  They're in each others' rooms, lives, and conversations.  (They're in the fridge a lot, too!)  God has forged their bond of brotherhood, both by blood and by the Spirit, for eternity!  Thank You, Lord, for teenage sons!  And thank You for Danny!!

Let our sons in their youth be as grown-up plants...

  1. We were talking just a couple of nights ago, and, long story short, started talking about old times with you all. Making movies was mentioned and one of my girls said, "It was the only way we could get them to play house with us." ROFLOL Thought you'd appreciate that perspective. ;o)

  2. Oh Christine, I have also been blessed with boys! And they are both teenagers that are growing and maturing in the knowledge of Our Lord!

It is not easy...they are both so different, but I do so enjoy having them around and listening to them share with each other and encourage each other.

Very different from girls. I come from a family of three girls and I know that it is very different, lol! :)

  3. I love this. Your son's smile just uplifted me.

    Bless Him!

  4. Dear Christine...such wonderful blessings!

  5. What a blessing that your boys, (young men) I should say,:) all get along. Love how you said it "in the fridge too"
My in laws, told me several times.... when my husband and his brother were growing up they were always afraid they would run out of groceries to feed the two teenage boys, who were both over 6 ft. tall.

  6. Your son has a great smile. I always appreciate reading about those who are raising God-fearing sons.

  7. Lovely post of thanksgiving for your teenage boys. In a way, I'm grateful for those teenage boys...because I'm hopeful that someday I'll have some to call my sons (in-law)..hehe! I appreciate those mama's raising them to be good husbands later on.

  8. Dear Christine,
I found your blog while visiting a friend's...I love this post! We have three sons...all such blessings from the Lord. Your Danny sounds oh so special...thanks for sharing him with us!
    God bless,

  9. Thank you all for warm comments!

    And Laura--nice to "meet" you!
