Month of Thanksgiving -- Blessing 14

Branch Of Wisdom

Today I thank You, Lord, for color.  Some animals see in black and white, but you made us to see in color--the reds and oranges and yellows in a sunset, the sweet green grass, all the shades of a blue sky, the purples in the rainbow...

Now that autumn is fully upon us here in the Midwest, I appreciate color even more.  To my delight, as Thomas and I cleared out the dead brush from my front yard garden, I noted that even my blue oat grass glowed with autumn light as the sun hit that latening hour when dull, fading brown turns to molten shimmer.

As I cleared brush and leaves, I also discovered a few fading flowers on the beard tongue, hanging on until the hard frost arrives.

I love this little plant, which happily grows without much care.  It is especially colorful when it begins to bloom in early summer:  flowers appear, arrayed in bright pink, then with time turn to darker red, then purple, as they complete the blooming cycle.  At any given time, all of these colors are displayed and create a bright and colorful corner in my garden.

There will be color in heaven!

The material of the wall was jasper;
and the city was pure gold, like clear glass.
The foundation stones of the city wall
were adorned with every kind of precious stone...
...jasper...sapphire...chalcedony...emerald...
...sardonyx...sardius...chrysolite...beryl...
...topaz...chrysoprase...jacinth...amethyst...
And the twelve gates were twelve pearls;
each one of the gates was a single pearl.
And the street of the city was pure gold,
like transparent glass.
Revelation 21:18-21 nasb

Thank You, Lord, for colors!

Month of Thanksgiving -- Blessing 4

Branch Of Wisdom

In one of my earlier Thanksgiving posts, I referenced the hymn Great is Thy Faithfulness.  I shared the verse about "summer and winter, and springtime, and harvest."  I was reminded of this verse again as I ventured out into the cold breezy afternoon yesterday!  We reached 76 degrees just a few days ago, and yesterday, I was wearing a sweater and actually used a coat.  Which brings me to today's post.

The Lord's mighty hand created this earth and made it to spin.  He also made it to tilt on its axis and rotate around the sun.  This gives us our seasons.  Just as I navigate each season with preparation (getting out summer clothing, for example), and anticipation (awaiting Thanksgiving!), I move through the seasons in life with the same disciplines--submitting to the Lord when trials come, patiently learning Biblical teaching, eagerly looking forward to what the Lord is doing in my life.

Today, I am thankful for the seasons--both the spiritual ones, and the physical ones.  Especially autumn!

Thursday Morning and Time for Tea

To participate in "Tea Talk" today, please click on Ruth's link above and read her blog for more information!

I'm having...just a plain old cup of caffeinated Irish breakfast tea this morning.  I'm using my garage-sale mug, white with a cobalt blue design around the sides.  I love its uniquely rounded shape.  And if you've been reading any of my blogs, any day now I'll be able to take a picture of it!  I spotted it in a recent garage sale for 50 cents, and it is my everyday tea mug.

A photo of...breakfast from earlier this year--really, new pictures will come soon!!

I'm feeling...invigorated.  Last week I was fighting a sore throat and the blahs, but I'm healthy once again.  I've also spent several little chunks of time--and one big one--de-cluttering and cleaning and organizing, and that always invigorates me!  I'm looking forward to another "Suspenders" time with Helen tonight to complete even  more projects (click here to find out what I'm talking about!).

On my mind is...I love cool September mornings--the crisp snap in the air, the fresh feeling of life.  Even though spring is the season associated with newness and re-birth, I always feel like the autumn air brings a breath of renewal and energy into my life.

Speaking of renewal, here is something I encountered this week in my morning devo's with Fernando:

Remember that you were at that time separate from Christ,
excluded from the commonwealth of Israel,
and strangers to the covenants of promise,
having no hope and without God in the world.
But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off
have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
For He Himself is our peace...

Ephesians 2:12-14a NASB

May Jesus truly be your peace today!
